why 3x3?
Our student show is the only truly representative show of what student illustrators are doing all over the world. While each country selects their best, we select the world’s best. Getting into the 3x3 Student Show is not easy but once in you are among the best of the next generation of illustrators.
Our international panel of judges for this show are always active illustrators as well as educators. Many are department heads or program leaders; all have international reputations.
¶ All work is judged on a four-point system much like the US grading process. All judging is done independently and digitally then tabulated at our New York offices. To be in our show an entry must receive a minimum majority of the judges votes as either three or four points. Our medal winners must receive a majority of four votes from each judge.
¶ Judging is done in the spring, winners are all notified by email and the 3x3 Illustration Annual No 8 will be produced and distributed at the end of the year.
¶ You can find our magazine and annuals on newsstands in top Barnes & Noble, Borders and independent bookstores throughout America as well as Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
¶ We have universities, colleges and art schools all over the world entering each year. For a full list of previous winners please contact us.
