Artist Residency Grant Program 2014 - Le CouveNt

Le CouveNt is a creative space dedicated to music, visual arts, writing, multimedia and performing arts.

Its mission is to promote contemporary artistic practices and the exchange between artists and co-creation projects that connect different creative processes.

Our approach includes: 
-Art Residencies & workshops
-Musical Performance Coaching sessions 
-Concerts, Exhibits & Performances
-Sound recording sessions While in residence, the artists will benefit from an intense production time enhanced by the exchange of ideas and experiences with peers. 

Le CouveNt works with a large network of local professional artists (arts advisory committee) and technicians (sound, lighting) and it is recognized as the regional culture & arts reference. 

Our premises include an old convent (17th century) that has been restored over the last three years with the aim to preserve its history and style. 

There are several working spaces (individual or shared), several exhibition & concert rooms, individual and double bedrooms, a large common kitchen/dining room, sitting and relaxing area.

Le CouveNt is also equipped with Wi-Fi & Ethernet internet access.  Computers (Mac OS X / Windows / Linux) are also available on demand. A car is available for the individual use of artists in residence without additional cost (except for fuel). In order to benefit from this service you will need to bring with you a valid driver license. 

The former convent is situated in Auzits, a village in the Aveyron, France south west region. Located on top of the village, it has breathtaking views of the Cantal and Aubrac hills.

The nearest airport, Rodez, is only 20 minutes from “le CouveNt”, with 3 to 5 regular flights of about one hour from/to Paris. The nearest train station is located a few kilometers away. This project is supported by the European Union through the LEADER funds. Encouraging the implementation of integrated, high-quality and original strategies for sustainable cultural and artistic development, It has a strong focus on partnership and networks of exchange of experience. 

Grant Program Description The “le CouveNt” Grant for artists encourages the mobility of young artists as well as the expression of cultural diversity. 

The grant is aimed to worldwide emerging artists, from all disciplines, willing to create new works at “le CouveNt”. 

To apply, the artist must have a precise project and commit themselves to execute it during their residency at "le CouveNt ”. The laureate will benefit from full financial support during their stay at "le CouveNt”.

The art works produced during the residency at "le CouveNt“ belong to the artist who is engaged to disclosing and introducing their artistic project to an audience in one of the exhibition areas at the end of his/her residency. 

Le CouveNt will publish a brochure and posters to show proof of the work achieved during the in-training residency The artist might be requested to introduce their work to visitors & besides the time dedicated to creation, the artist will be called upon to show their work to an invited audience. 

Also and upon previous agreement with the artist, meetings and workshops shall be organized for different audiences allowing exchange, and involvement in the creation process. To be considered for the grant, candidates must fill this form correctly and provide a letter of motivation explaining the relevancy of their art project in regards to “leCouveNt” Applications are to be send by email only. 

Videos may be downloaded from websites such as Dropbox, Yousendit, Webtransfer or similar websites. The referenced websites shall be look at only for information purposes but cannot be considered as the main supporting document of the artist's file.
